Century Aluminum $250 million 10-year notes talked to yield 7½%-7¾%

By Paul A. Harris

St. Louis, Aug. 9 - Century Aluminum Co.'s $250 million offering of 10-year senior notes (BB-) is talked to yield 7½% to 7¾%, a syndicate source said Monday.

The deal is expected to price Tuesday afternoon.

Credit Suisse First Boston, Banc of America Securities LLC, Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan will run the books for the Rule 144A offering.

The notes will come with five years of call protection.

Proceeds will be used to help fund the tender for the company's 11¾% senior secured first mortgage notes and for general corporate purposes, which could include acquisitions and a planned expansion of the Nordural facility.

The company is a Monterey, Calif.-based primary aluminum producer.
