Carla’s Pasta requests 60-day extension of exclusive plan periods

By Sarah Lizee

Olympia, Wash., May 19 – Carla's Pasta, Inc. is seeking a 60-day extension of its exclusive periods to file and solicit votes on a Chapter 11 plan, according to a motion filed Wednesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Connecticut.

The company asked the court to extend the plan filing period through Aug. 7 from June 8 and the solicitation period through Oct. 6 from Aug. 7.

Carla's Pasta said its bankruptcy cases have progressed rapidly and have now reached the final phase where the debtors are prepared to move forward with a plan to liquidate and complete the final wind down of the estates.

“The debtors have been diligent in their efforts to reach this phase, and the debtors have not delayed their reorganization efforts, having completed a sale of substantially all of their assets within the first 10 weeks of these Chapter 11 cases,” the debtors said in their motion.

The company said that while the sale of assets was a significant milestone, additional actions are required in order to complete the administration of its cases, including potential additional assets to investigate and administer, claims to review and where necessary to object, termination of the various benefit packages consistent with regulatory matters, rejection of executory contracts, prosecuting tax credits and filing final tax returns, and ultimately resolution of the competing interests to the sale proceeds.

The South Windsor, Conn.-based pasta manufacturing company filed bankruptcy on Feb. 8 under Chapter 11 case number 21-20111.
