C. Wonder creditor committee asks court to authorize counsel hiring

By Kali Hays

New York, Feb. 20 – C. Wonder LLC’s official committee of unsecured creditors is seeking approval to hire Porzio, Bromberg & Newman, PC as its legal counsel retroactive to Jan. 30, according to a Friday motion with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey.

As counsel to the committee, Porzio will advise it in the investigation into the acts, conduct, assets, liabilities and general financial condition of C. Wonder, assist in negotiations with the debtors and creditors and also represent the committee in meetings and court proceedings as needed.

Attorneys responsible for the committee will be paid an hourly wage capped at $615 and the firm will also seek expense reimbursement from the court, according to the motion.

C. Wonder, a New York-based specialty retailer, filed for bankruptcy on Jan. 22. The Chapter 11 case number is 15-11127.
