Colonial BancGroup files automatic shelf registration

Knoxville, Tenn., Dec. 17 - Colonial BancGroup, Inc. filed an automatic shelf registration in an S-3-ASR filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The registration covers senior debt securities, subordinated debt securities, warrants, preferred stock and common stock.
The securities may be structured as convertibles.
Use of proceeds will be set forth in the applicable prospectus supplement.
The holding company for Colonial Bank, NA is based in Montgomery, Ala.
