Christ Hospital eyes two-month exclusivity extension to negotiate plan

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, May 8 - Christ Hospital is seeking an extension to its exclusive periods for filing and soliciting votes on a plan of reorganization, according to a Monday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey.

The hospital wants to extend its exclusive filing period to Aug. 6 from June 5 and the solicitation period to Oct. 3 from Aug. 4.

This is Christ Hospital's first exclusivity extension request.

"The debtor maintains that it requires additional time to negotiate and formulate a plan that maximizes value to the estate and its creditors, and to prepare adequate information for all interested parties to evaluate that plan," the hospital said in the motion.

Jersey City-based Christ Hospital filed for bankruptcy on Feb. 6. Its Chapter 11 case number is 12-12906.
