S&P rates Brookfield notes A-
S&P said it assigned its A- debt rating to Brookfield Finance I (UK) plc's planned issuance of senior unsecured notes due 2032. The notes will be guaranteed as to payment of principal, premium, if any, and interest, and certain other amounts by Brookfield Asset Management Inc.
“Market conditions will determine the size of the issuance, but for our analysis, we are assuming the notes will be $500 million,” S&P said in a press release.
Brookfield also plans to raise additional proceeds from the reopening of its 3.5% notes due 2051,
Brookfield Asset intends to use the proceeds from the 2032 offering to finance or refinance recently completed and future green projects, pending allocation, the unallocated portion will be temporarily used for general corporate purposes. The company also plans to use the proceeds from the 2051 reopening for general corporate purposes.
