By Marisa Wong

Madison, Wis., Nov. 4 - Brownstone Investment Group announced it hired Matthew Martines as managing director to expand its municipal trading and electronic market making units.

Martines joins Paul Sitarz who was hired last year to launch Brownstone's municipal bond business. Brownstone trader Josh Rosenblum is also part of the municipals team.

Martines was previously with Morgan Stanley, where he spent over 15 years in leadership roles within fixed-income trading and electronic market making.

Brownstone managing director Paul Sitarz said in a press release, "We launched Brownstone's municipal bond division last year and it's thriving. I am excited about the firm's increased commitment to enhancing our presence in municipals."

"Brownstone is celebrating our 15th anniversary by continuing our strategic expansion into municipal bonds. Last month we opened a San Francisco office to serve the west coast market," added Douglas Lowey, Brownstone president and chief executive officer.

Brownstone is a fixed-income investment firm based in New York. Its trading division specializes in high-yield, investment-grade, emerging markets, distressed corporate and municipal fixed-income securities.
