Borders' strategic alternatives review ongoing

Tacoma, Wash., May 22 - Borders Group, Inc. said it is in the midst of its strategic alternatives process and has not yet engaged in substantive discussions regarding any specific transaction.

The statement was made in response to recent inquiries, according to a company news release.

The company does not intend to make any further comment while the process is ongoing.

The Ann Arbor, Mich.-based book retailer began the review in March and said alternatives could include the sale of the company or certain divisions.
