Bashas' seeks approval of $1.8 million sale of 12 liquor licenses

Pittsburgh, Dec. 21 - Bashas' Inc. requested court approval of the proposed $1.8 million sale of 12 liquor licenses to Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., according to a Friday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Arizona.

Wal-Mart has paid a $180,000 deposit toward the purchase price.

The sale is subject to the receipt of higher and better bids.

A hearing is scheduled for Jan. 20.

Bashas', a Chandler, Ariz.-based retail grocery business, filed for bankruptcy on July 12. Its Chapter 11 case number is 09-16050
