ABC Carpet & Home gets extension of exclusive plan periods

By Sarah Lizee

Olympia, Wash., Jan. 25 – ABC Carpet Co., Inc., which does business as ABC Carpet & Home, has secured an extension of its exclusive periods to file and solicit votes on a Chapter 11 plan, according to an order filed Tuesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

Specifically, the court extended the plan filing period through March 21 and the solicitation period through May 6.

The debtors have filed a Chapter 11 plan of liquidation, and a hearing on approval of the disclosure statement is scheduled for Jan. 27.

“It is in all parties’ best interest for the court to grant a modest extension to the exclusivity periods to allow the debtors to continue forward with their proposed plan without the potential large and unnecessary costs associated with competing plans,” the company said in its motion.

The New York-based furniture retailer filed bankruptcy on Sept. 8 under Chapter 11 case number 21-11591.
