Alfred Angelo trustee looks to hire auctioneer for gowns, other assets

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Aug. 10 – Alfred Angelo Newco, Inc. Chapter 7 trustee Margaret J. Smith requested court approval to hire Auction America, Inc. to sell by auction all bridal gown inventory and other items, according to a motion filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida.

In addition to the inventory, the auctioneer will sell miscellaneous fixtures, furniture and equipment and any vehicles on the company’s warehouse premises in Deerfield Beach, Fla.

Smith said Auction America has proposed a one-auction event to be held on Sept. 2.

The auctioneer will add a 10% buyer’s premium to each final bid price, and the buyer’s premium will be payable to the auctioneer within 10 days after conclusion of the auction and will be deducted from the total auction proceeds.

In addition, up to $18,000 of the auctioneer’s expenses will be paid from the total auction proceeds.

Alfred Angelo is a Palm Beach, Fla.-based bridal retailer. The company filed bankruptcy on July 14 under Chapter 7 case number 17-18864.
