American Apparel to close 95 additional stores; sales to begin Feb. 16

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Feb. 3 – American Apparel, LLC will close an additional 95 stores, according to a notice filed Thursday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

A contractual joint venture comprised of Hilco Merchant Resources, LLC and Gordon Brothers Retail Partners, LLC will hold liquidation sales at the closing stores. The sales are expected to begin on Feb. 16 and end by May 31.

As previously reported, American Apparel initially received court approval to hold closing sales at nine of its retail store locations. However, that order granted approval of the closure of additional stores, if necessary.

American Apparel is a Los Angeles-based manufacturer, distributor and retailer of branded fashion basic apparel. The company filed for bankruptcy on Nov. 14 under Chapter 11 case number 16-12551.
