S&P changes AIG outlook to positive

S&P said it revised its outlook for American International Group Inc. to positive from stable and affirmed its BBB+ ratings.

On Nov. 15, the agency published its revised criteria for analyzing insurers' risk-based capital.

“The positive outlook on AIG and its P/C subsidiaries reflects our expectation that AIG's underwriting performance will remain strong, with an adjusted combined ratio (adjusted by S&P to include a portion of corporate general operating expenses) of 92%-94% and return on revenue of at least 10%, in line with those of similarly rated players and further narrowing the performance gap with those of higher-rated peers,” S&P said in a press release.
