Armstrong World Industries posts $11.56 million April operating loss

Pittsburgh, June 1 - Armstrong World Industries, Inc. reported an $11.56 million operating loss for April on $113.97 million in net sales, according to its monthly operating report filed Wednesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The figures show a decline from $9.09 million in March operating income on $140.49 million in net sales.

The net loss for April was $11.52 million, down from a $3.44 million March net income.

Cash and cash equivalents on April 30 were $264.32 million, compared with $231.73 million at the end of March.

Armstrong, a Lancaster, Pa.-based flooring company, filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 6, 2000. Its Chapter 11 case number is 00-04471.
