AbitibiBowater names Bruce K. Robertson chief restructuring officer

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, July 2 - AbitibiBowater has appointed Bruce K. Robertson as chief restructuring officer to support the company's restructuring efforts, according to a company news release.

Robertson will work closely with the company's executive team and report to president and chief executive officer David J. Paterson.

"I look forward to working closely with Bruce and the company's board, management and creditors to move as quickly as possible toward a negotiated settlement of claims and a comprehensive restructuring plan that will make AbitibiBowater a stronger, more sustainable organization," Paterson said in the release.

Robertson recently served as senior managing partner at Brookfield Asset Management Inc. He holds a bachelor of commerce from Queen's University.

AbitibiBowater, a Montreal-based producer of newsprint, commercial printing papers, market pulp and wood products, filed for bankruptcy on April 16 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. Its Chapter 11 case number is 09-11296.
