Telesat Canada redeems its $900 million of 6% notes due 2017

Columbus, Ohio, Nov. 17 – Telesat Canada said it redeemed its $900 million of 6% senior notes due May 15, 2017.

The redemption was funded using proceeds of an offering of $500 million of 8 7/8% senior notes due 2024, a new $2.63 billion amended and restated credit agreement and cash on hand, according to a press release.

Telesat is an Ottawa-based fixed satellite services operator.
