S&P rates Staples A-2

Standard & Poor's said it assigned an A-2 short-term commercial paper rating to Staples Inc.

The BBB+ corporate credit and senior unsecured ratings remain on CreditWatch with negative implications, where they were placed on Feb. 19, following the announcement that the company offered to buy Corporate Express NV (BB-/Watch developing).
