Solutia gets official equity security holders committee

By Jeff Pines

Washington, March 24 - Solutia, Inc. has an official equity security holders committee.

In a March 23 filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York, the U.S. trustee appointed the following members: Jonathan Couchman of Couchman Partners, LP; Gregory Shrock of Mellon HBV Alternative Strategies LLC; Jeffrey Watkins of Prescott Group Capital Management LLC; Elizabeth Pierce of Smith Management LLC; and Richard Kuersteiner of Franklin Advisors, Inc.

In late February, the U.S. trustee appointed an official committee of retirees and in January nine creditors were named to an unsecured creditors' committee.

The St. Louis-based chemical company filed for Chapter 11 in December citing the costs of legacy liabilities and Monsanto Co. retiree healthcare obligations it was forced to assume when Monsanto spun off Solutia as the reasons for its decision.
