S&P: Rockwell Collins on watch

S&P said it placed the BBB long-term corporate credit and issue-level ratings on Rockwell Collins Inc. on CreditWatch with positive implications.

At the same time, the agency affirmed the A-2 short-term corporate credit and A-2 commercial paper ratings. S&P did not place these ratings on CreditWatch because it expects to raise the corporate credit rating by only one notch upon closing of the proposed transaction and an upgrade to BBB+ would not change the assessment of the company's short-term creditworthiness.

“The CreditWatch placement follows United Technologies' announcement that it will be acquiring Rockwell Collins in a transaction valued at $30 billion, including the assumption of Rockwell Collins' debt. The companies expect the transaction to close by the third quarter of 2018,” S&P said in a news release.
