Pet Valu, Pet Supermarket obtain $605 million facility for merger

Norfolk, Va., July 11 – Pet Valu, Inc. and Pet Supermarket, Inc. obtained a $605 million Golub Capital One-Loan Debt financing from Golub Capital to support their merger, according to a press release.

Golub is the administrative agent, bookrunner and a joint lead arranger.

The financing will support the combination of the two current Roark Capital Group portfolio companies. The merger will create one of largest pet supply retailers in North America, with more than 930 store locations throughout the United States and Canada, the release said.

Pet Valu is a Markham, Ont., specialty retailer of pet food and pet supplies. Pet Supermarket is a Sunrise, Fla.-based pet food and supply retailer. Roark is a private equity firm based in Atlanta.
