New Development Bank launches RMB 3 billion five-year green bond

Charlotte, N.C., July 12 – The New Development Bank launched a RMB 3 billion five-year green bond, the company’s first green bond, in the Chinese interbank bond market.

The bond will be issued on July 18, according to a news release.

Bank of China Ltd. is the lead underwriter and bookrunner.

Joint underwriters are Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Ltd., China Construction Bank Ltd., China Development Bank Corp., HSBC Bank (China) Co. Ltd. and Standard Chartered Bank (China) Ltd.

More than 40 international and domestic Chinese investors showed interest in the bond at a meeting on Tuesday.

Proceeds will be used to finance green projects in Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

The bank is based in Shanghai.
