New Century asks court to order former officers and directors to agree to interviews

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Oct. 3 - New Century Financial Corp.'s examiner asked the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware to order some of the company's former officers and directors to comply with requests for interviews in connection with the examiner's investigation, according to a Wednesday court filing.

Examiner Michael J. Missal said although he has received millions of pages of documents in connection with his investigation, some former members of the company's management have not voluntarily agreed to be interviewed, and he believes other potential witnesses may also refuse to be interviewed.

Missal said the inability to conduct the interviews is impeding his investigation.

A hearing is scheduled for Oct. 17.

New Century, an Irvine, Calif.-based financial company, filed for bankruptcy on April 2, 2007. Its Chapter 11 case number is 07-10416.
