Fitch affirms National Bank of Canada

Fitch Ratings said it affirmed the long-term issuer default rating of National Bank of Canada at A+, the short-term issuer default rating at F1, its senior debt at A+, its subordinated debt at A, its preferred stock at A- and its short-term deposits at F1.

The outlook is stable.

The bank's ratings consider its leading banking franchise in Quebec, consistent earnings performance, sound asset quality metrics and comfortable capital position, the agency said. The ratings also benefit from Canada's strong economic and regulatory environment as well as a stable domestic banking market.
