Moody's rates Kansas City, Mo., bonds Aa3, outlook negative

Moody's Investors Service said it assigned an Aa3 rating and negative outlook to the Kansas City, Mo.'s $40 million of general obligation bonds, series 2008A.

Moody's also said it lowered the outlook to negative from stable on the Aa3 rating on the city's $310.66 million of outstanding G.O. debt. That rating was affirmed at the same time.

Separately, Moody's said it assigned an A2 rating on the city's $34.835 million of special obligation bonds, series 2008B. The outlook on the 2008B bonds is negative.

Sale of both the 2008A and 2008B bonds is expected on April 2.
