J.L. French asks court to approve confidentiality procedures, clarify information distribution laws

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, April 6 - J.L. French Automotive Castings, Inc.'s official committee of unsecured creditors requested court approval of its creditors information and confidentiality procedures that will govern dissemination of information to committee members and their creditor constituencies, according to a Wednesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

According to the motion, the procedures allow the committee to share information with creditors as long as it is not classified "confidential material, restricted confidential material or privileged information."

The committee also asked the court to confirm that it is not required to give privileged information to any creditor.

The committee said the new bankruptcy laws surrounding distribution of confidential information are unclear and it wants to avoid distribution of information to parties not bound by confidentiality agreements, members of the public or its competitors.

A hearing is scheduled for April 24.

J.L. French, a Sheboygan, Wis., supplier of high-pressure die-cast aluminum automotive components and assemblies, filed for bankruptcy on Feb. 10. Its Chapter 11 case number is 06-10119.
