James River Coal postpones auction and sale hearing for second time

By Kali Hays

New York, July 10 – James River Coal Co. adjourned its strategic transaction proposal auction and approval hearing for the second time, according to a Thursday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

The company, in consultation with its debtor-in-possession financing agent and official committee of unsecured creditors, adjourned the auction to July 21 from July 14 and the hearing to July 29 from July 17.

The notice did not give a reason for the adjournment, and company representatives could not be reached for comment.

James River, a coal company based in Richmond, Va., filed bankruptcy on April 7. The Chapter 11 case number is 14-31848.
