Markit says U.S. leveraged loans down 0.02% in Sept. 5 week

By Sara Rosenberg

New York, Sept. 12 - The Markit iBoxx USD Leveraged Loans Index decreased minimally by 0.02% for the week of Sept. 5, compared to a 1.65% rise during the prior week, according to Markit data.

Year-to-date returns on the index remain negative at 1.73%.

Average bids in North America are 90.10, down from 90.20 in the week of Aug. 29.

"Loans held up better than other segments of the credit market as concern grew over sovereign risk in the euro zone last week," said Otis Casey, director and loan market analyst at Markit.

"Liquidity remains an issue, and most investors are still on the sidelines," Casey concluded.
