S&P: DuPont outlook negative

Standard & Poor's said it affirmed the A long-term and A-1 short-term corporate credit ratings on E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co. and revised its outlook to negative from stable.

"We are concerned that demand weakness stemming from poor global economic conditions could cause operating performance to fall short of our expectations despite aggressive steps management is taking to cut costs and decrease net working capital," S&P analyst Cynthia Werneth said in a statement.

Ratings reflect the company's excellent business risk profile as one of the world's premier chemical, specialty materials and seed producers, tempered by an intermediate financial risk profile, according to the agency.
