Chesapeake Energy says it currently has no plans to file bankruptcy

Pittsburgh, Feb. 8 – Chesapeake Energy Corp. said Monday that it currently has no plans to file bankruptcy and it is “aggressively seeking to maximize value for all shareholders.”

According to a news release, Kirkland & Ellis LLP continues to advise the company as it seeks to further strengthen its balance sheet following its recent debt exchange.

Chesapeake is a natural gas producer based in Oklahoma City.
