Caliper Life Sciences launches Xenogen in-vivo imaging system

By Elaine Rigoli

Tampa, Fla., Aug. 30 - Caliper Life Sciences, Inc. has released its Xenogen IVIS Spectrum, an in-vivo optical imaging system that offers high-sensitivity bioluminescent imaging and fluorescent imaging, including spectral unmixing, trans-illumination and 3D tomographic capabilities.

This dual illumination capability enables tomographic localization of both shallow and deep tumors in 3D and reduces background interference, according to a news release.

Coupled with the ability to provide 3D images of fluorescent and bioluminescent reporters, IVIS Spectrum is the first system to deliver these capabilities in one instrument, the release said.

Caliper is a life-sciences company based in Hopkinton, Mass.
