Panama's Bladex names Tulio P. Vera as chief strategist, head of client relations

Knoxville, Tenn., July 10 - Banco Latinoamericano de Exportaciones, SA announced in a press release that it has hired Tulio P. Vera as chief strategist and head of client relations in Bladex Asset Management.

Vera most recently worked nine years at Merrill Lynch as managing director, chief global emerging market macro and debt strategist. Prior to that, he was global head of emerging market fixed income research at ABN Amro.

Vera holds a master's degree and a Ph.D. in economics from New York University.

"Tulio Vera brings an unprecedented level of knowledge to BAM. With nearly 20 years of experience in emerging market debt and strategy, BAM is fortunate to have someone of his caliber join our team. I look forward to working closely with Tulio to grow BAM's footprint, while utilizing Bladex's unique competitive advantages within Latin America," Bladex Asset Management's head, Manuel Mejia, said in the news release.

Banco Latinoamericano, or Bladex, based in Panama City, is a multinational bank, which specializes in finance of foreign trade for Latin American and Caribbean countries.
