Apache files $2 billion shelf registration

Philadelphia, April 4 - Apache Corp. filed a $2 billion shelf registration in an S-3ASR filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The registration covers common stock and related rights, preferred stock, depositary shares, common stock purchase contracts, common stock purchase units, senior debt securities and subordinated debt securities. The securities may be structured as convertibles. Subsidiaries Apache Australia, Apache Canada and Apache Canada II may offer senior or subordinated debt securities.

The Houston oil and gas exploration company plans to use proceeds for general corporate purposes including repaying debt, working capital, capital expenditure and acquisitions.
