AMR reports $240 million of operating income for July; revenues climb

Pittsburgh, Aug. 27 - AMR Corp. reported $240 million of operating income for July on $2.33 billion of total operating revenues, according to its monthly operating report filed Monday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The figures showed improvement over the $102 million of operating income posted for June on $2,242,000,000 of total operating revenues.

The net income for July was $135 million, compared with $33 million of net income for June.

The company had $444 million in cash at July 31, up from $371 million at the end of June. AMR, the Fort Worth-based parent of American Airlines, filed for bankruptcy on Nov. 29, 2011 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. The Chapter 11 case number
